Midwest Sod Council Members Involved in Television Program.

Yorkville, IL -- July 7th, 2004 -- Central Sod Farms the Midwest’s largest sod farm based in Plainfield, Illinois was elated to host a film crew from the Discovery Channel at one of their fields in Yorkville, IL. The crew was taping the morning of July 7th for an episode of “Mega Machines” that will likely air in late September or early October of this year, on the cable network The Learning Channel (TLC).

The episode will showcase the Trebro AutoStack automatic stacking turf harvester of which Central Sod Farms owns 4 units. The crew taped for approximately 6 hours in the field capturing video of the intricacies of these amazing machines. As well, footage was taken of representatives from Central Sod Farm and Trebro Manufacturing regarding the productivity and operation of the AutoStack.

It was truly an amazing site to witness four of these massive 30 foot long, 13 foot wide, 32,000 pound machines harvesting sod simultaneously. The actual TV time will most likely not eclipse 10 minutes for the machine showcase, but that is alright with everyone involved. Any insight into the sod industry is great exposure for sod producers and equipment vendors everywhere. The Midwest Sod Council is pleased that two of its’ members (Central Sod Farms and Trebro Manufacturing) could come together to produce this television segment.
